Heads up out there!
Here's what our WYDOT forecaster had to say this morning after another 1.6" of water:
Multiple Natural SS bank slides
Rocky Gulch to the road N-SS-D2
Twin AX-SS-R4-D3
Glory AX-SS-R2-D3, AP-SS-R2-D3, & AP-SS-R2-D2
It was a windy night in the Tetons. Snow started around 5 am and the storm has only just begun.
We believe this avalanche was triggered on the morning of January 3 by someone trying to dig a pit 6-10 feet away. This avalanche failed on large surface hoar.
The avalanche warning, current conditions, and a preliminary report of the accident can be found here: http://www.mtavalanche.com/current
Enjoy the new snow, but remember to be careful out there!
